Ramesh Srinivasan speaks about the AI and the Workforce: Adapting to a New Era of Technology. Ramesh has been a faculty member at UCLA since 2005 in the Information Studies and Design|Media Arts departments. He is the founder of the UC-wide Digital Cultures Lab which offers a unique, people-focused analysis of new technologies working across every continent and dozens of countries across the world. This lab examines the means by which new media technologies impact businesses, economics, cultures, politics, labor, and the environment through collaborations with global partners. He explores the future of algorithms, AI, automation, and cryptocurrencies with these themes in mind. He holds degrees from Stanford (B.Sc. in Engineering), the MIT Media Laboratory (M.Sc.), and Harvard (Ph.D.).
In his role as a policy advisor to U.S. Congress members and global leaders, Professor Srinivasan has consistently advocated for responsible participation in technological development. His recently launched podcast series “Utopias” (2024) features conversations with prominent thinkers about creating a future that works for everyone. His insights are regularly featured in leading media outlets including NPR, MSNBC, BBC, and CNN, and his writings have appeared in the Washington Post, Wired, The Economist, and The New York Times.
As a board member of Digital Democracy and former Innovation Policy Committee member to the president, he brings unique insights into how organizations can successfully integrate AI and preserve workforce engagement and development.
